There is no official announce about the name. but rumor say like this.

this snack concept is romance of exploration age. this is the reason sailing ship picture is on the snack, package color is sea blue, compass picture on the package.

and the name, “Alfort” mean port.
But nobody know which language is it.
Dose it mean really port? at least, google cannot designate which language it is.

They want to name it Port.

Port is gathering sailing ship around the world.
Something meet at the port.
In case of this snack, chocolate and biscuit meet.
so this is named alfort that means port.
but nobody know which language is it.

It’s very mysterious.

Maybe the marketing team of this rural countryside company made a mistake.

Yes, the company, Bourbon is located, Niigata, rural area.

they want to name it “Port”, but because of their poor english pronunciation and listening ability, they spell it not port but alfort.

You could say, “There’s no way that would happen.”

but  you never know how poor Japanese people’s english is.

How can we mistake “Alfort” and “Port”?

Anyway this unidentified name and impression of this snack is successful to give expensive foreign-made delicious snack image even though it’s only a 1 dollar or so and made by very countryside company..

I noticed karinto krisps is bad looks in toilet

Sometimes I eat snack while I do elimination. But it’s not so many times.

I know it is not good table manner and its bad hygiene.

But sometimes I cannot help eating snacks because of my stomach condition.

Basically I don’t care about appearance when I eat snacks.

But when I eat Karintou in toilet, I am really surprised because I notice that Karintou look like poop.

Taste is never like a poop. Or exactly I don’t know the taste of poop. But Karintou krisps is maybe not taste of poop.

Karintou taste is sweet. This sweet is not like a chocolate or candy sweet. This sweet is like a donuts. And texture is little bit hard.

Package says this is “Langue de chat”, that is French cookie. It means Cat tongue. Langue de chat is cat tongue in French. But this Japanese snack’s name is “Horn”.

What is horn? Animal born or music instrument? Anyway this naming is really confusing. Because snack package say it’s cat tongue, but name is horn.

Langue de chat seems to be popular cookie in French. But French people maybe never notice this is Langue de chat. Because original langue de chat should be cat tongue shape and light brown color.

This color is not Langue de chat, this shape is not Langue de chat. And this taste is not Langue de chat too. This taste is Match taste, Japanese green tea taste chocolate cookie. And name is horn.

Brave try never be understood by Japanese customer

I don’t know why they try to mix many taste. Just a small cheap snack. You can swallow it with few chewing. Tasting is only few second.
Original Langue de chat is already delicious snack. There is risk to lost good taste by mixing other taste.
But Japanese snack company is brave enough to do that.

this brave try will need advanced technology. I think we should that advanced technology to fix nuclear power plant.

Anyway Japanese people never know what is Langue de chat. and They don’t understand English nor French.  They buy it because package is beautiful. That is Japanese. And I bought it because I am also Japanese.

If these explanation is true, this instant noodle should be ten times price or company staff starve to death.

when I see this freeze dried ingredient package, I am surprised at the quantity and vriety.

After pouring hot water, I open the package. Freeze doried ingredients are soggy.

Basically lots of instant noodle package picture is far image from real cooked. but this instant noodle is not so bad unlike. don’t you? anyway it is only JPY100-. we should this price.

But the most important thing is taste.

Soup is very mild seafood soup. not so bad, and noodle texture is springy.

little bit salty but it is not so oily.

I enjoy instant noodle eating time with this.

But I think almost all Japanese people don’t know what polyphenol is. So they should say “this chocolate is good for health & beauty because it contain high plyphenol”.

Maybe they cannot do it because it is illegal to write efficacy by Japanese Pharmaceutical laws.

So this package never says this is good for health & beauty. Exactly saying, it says

1, we think about beauty & health. It’s high Cacao polyphenol.
2, Chocolate effect
3, one package contain 2200mg polyphenol
4, 86% Cacao

6, Stand out cacao fragrance & taste.

This is their way of advertising.

I never deny the goodness of polyphenol. It must be good for beauty. But this chocolate contains lots of sugar & butter & emulsifier & oil etc. It is not best way to take polyphenol for health & beauty.

Package still say that this cacao is made by Agro forestry or agro-sylviculture. That Agro forestry cacao contains 13%.
You can understand English, so you will know what Agro forestry is.

But 99% Japanese people don’t know what Agroforesty is. There is no explanation about Agroforesty.

But strangely if we see this package “This cacao use Agroforesty, we start to believe this chocolate is good for health & beauty.

Anyway this is chocolate that is sold in glossary store. No customer buys it seriously for their health & beauty. We buy it just for enjoy taste.

This price is JPY210, its bit expensive among chocolate snack. So when you open the package, you will be disappointed that it’s lots of space in the package.

Each chocolate packed with gorgeous golden plastic. It’s elegant. But I want to say please use space efficiently.

Cunning product name with marketing strategy

This product name is “Mental balance chocolate GAVA”.  and sub line is “It is for you who fight in stressful society”.

If you just only hear the name of this, you think it is tranquilizer or some bad drug that is sold on the dark night street. And if you know its price is just a few dollar, you soon buy it without hesitate.

Sorry but this is not such a fantastic drug. this is just a chocolate snack that is completely legally sold by Japanese normal confectionary company. You can eat it in front of police and you are still without arresting. and dentist become happy.

according to the package explanation, this chocolate seem to be good for your mental balance. but it is unbalance in nutrition. It contain lots of sugar & GABA. this GABA ease your stressful mental. I don’t know what is GABA. almost all Japanese people don’t know what is GABA.

But explanation on the package say this chocolate contain GABA, this is the reason this chocolate is good for you who is fighting in stressful society.

at that time, stupid Japanese consumer like me think that Oh! it contain GABA? and it is good for mental? So it will be good product and it will be good for mental health. I buy it. even if I don’t know what is GABA.

GABA or GEBA or GOBA or GEBA GOBO anything is ok. Consumer never think so seriously about GABA that is contained in this chocolate. because it is just a few dallor. we have lots of things to think seriously more than that, for example Fukushima nuclear power plant.

this is very cunning marketing strategy of this Confectionery company.

What is GABA, is it good really?

GABA is Gamma-Amino Butyric Acid. and it seem to be good for mental health. If it is so, package explanation should say this chocolate is good for mental health. but it never say so. it just only imply that this chocolate is for stressful people. Why ? because our pharmaceutical Affairs Law ban to advertise medical effect if it is not medicine.

It means that this chocolate never proven the mental easing effect officially.

But strangely lots of Japanese consumer buy it believing it is good for mental health. and they never get angry even if it has no effect.

But this chocolate could have good mental effect because any buyer don’t get angry that this chocolate have no effect.

Who care the taste? But it take care angry person

Confusing taste snack

We, Japanese people normally don’t try to eat potato chip with chocolate because potato chips is salty and oppositely chocolate is sweet.

Not so many person can imagine these things are in mouth at the same time and still delicious.

Chocolate  tip cokkie is understandable. because chocolate and cookie is both sweet and we can imagine it must be delicious. Chips plus sour cream and onion flavor is understandable because both is salty. But potate chips with chocolate is ununderstandable.

so normal conservative big company never try to sell Chocolate potato chips.

So I was surprised when I see this snack. and I was confusing. And I thought it could not be delicious.

But I love chocolate, and I love potato chips too. I eat both often different opotunity. and internal voice said to me that if youeat “Jagachoco” , you can save time and money.

But I never think it give me good taste. but my internal voice said to me again.

Certainly dalty and sweet never good taste convination. but if both go into stomach, it’s same result.

So I reluctantly buy “Jagachoco”.

And I eat it.

Jagachoco’s Potato chips is delicious. Jagachoco’s chocolate is delicious.

But I still cannot say Jagachoco is delicious or not.

I am still confusing.
