This snack is one of the master piece of Japanese cheap snack.
Almost all Japanese people know this small snack.

You could not believe it because please see this package. It is never stylish.

I don’t know.
It’s really strange, because this snack company is very minor.
All most all Japanese know this snack, but all most all Japanese people never know this snack company.
So the reason this snack become best selling is two reason.
It’s very delicious & it’s very cheap.

It’s very delicious. It’s JPY30-, about USD0.3-.

This cheap price enables to purchase it by lots of people, from rich people like a Bill gates to middle class people like me.

And even if it’s cheap price, this taste is not so bad. Or I can say it’s delicious.

This is Arare with cheese flavor.

What is Arare?

Arare (あられ?, which is named after graupel “snow pellets”) is a type of bite-sized Japanese cracker made from glutinous rice and flavored with soy sauce. The size and shapes are what distinguish arare from senbei. The name is chosen to evoke snow pellets ? smaller arare are similar in size and shape to snow pellets, though others can vary significantly in size, flavor and shape. Arare is also called kakimochi or mochi crunch in Hawaii where it was introduced in the 1900s.

maybe this snack company tries to cut cost by reducing oil and cheese. and they employ cheap Microsoft desinger for package design, maybe.
but this management’s rationalization happens to make this cheap snack more tasty and elegant, even though design is still cheap.
I strongly recommend eating this cheap snack. Please check this mild, light subtle taste.
