In Japan, if we hear the name of Maruchan, all people remind of “Akai kitsune” and “Midori no Tanuki”.

Because Maruchan’s TVCM have kept shouting “Maruchan Akai kitsune to Midori no Tanuki” until now by famous TV actor, Testuya Takeda who is not handsome.

Akai Kistune means red fox. It’s Udon instant noodle.

Midori no Tanuki means green raccoon. It’s Soba sintant noodle.

 

These noodle is long sales products and also basic items for Japanese middle class hungry people.

 

What is Soba noodle?

Soba noodle is not Ramen noodle.

 Soba (そば or 蕎麦?) is the Japanese name for buckwheat. It is synonymous with a type of thin noodle made from buckwheat flour, and in Japan can refer to any thin noodle (unlike thick wheat noodles, known as upon).

If you don’t know about Japanese noodle culture, you cannot know the difference between ramen and soba. But it’s completely different concept.

I think one of the biggest differences is oil. Ramen use lots of oil to get taste. But soba don’t use it.

So health conscious people love to eat soba.

Buta = pig > it means it contain pig meat.

so this instant noodle is we can say, curry udon noodle with pig meat.
In case of this product, black have no special meaning.

What is curry udon ?

Udon is one of Japanese cook that eat with bonito stock soup. Before time, we never eat it with curry, but one udon shop owner try sell Udon mixing with curry because curry is popular at that time. and curry udon become popular in Japan because it is delicious.

The person who invents curry udon is Master of Sanchouan restaurant at Waseda.

Why nobody recommend going to Sanchouan?

This Sanchoan is very famous. And it has long history. Its old establish restaurant. So there is lots of customer every day. But this Sanchouan restaurant is very famous as nobody recommended restaurant. Do you know why? Because it is not so delicious.

But strangely lots of people go to these restaurants even if people recommend not going.

Now I have idea to raise food quality of this Sanchouan restaurant.

Sanchouan restaurant should stop to cook and just sell Maruchan curry udon with hot water, and people start to recommend going to Sanchouan restaurant.

Noodle is very wavy, and soup is very gooey. So noodle is twined around the gooey soup. So we noodle become deep curry taste.

Curry soup is certainly curry taste but this curry taste is tuned up as curry udon soup, so it is not ordinals curry taste.

Origin of this instant noodle name

This instant noodle name, “Ore no shio” means My salt.  “Ore no” means “my” & “Shio” means salt. maybe you think it’s strange name.

This name remind Japanese people that two things. One is name of one manga, “Ore no sora”. this manga dashing guy’s story. “Ore no sora”. this means My sky.

another thing is name of restaurant chain, “Ore no Italian”, “Ore no French”, “Ore no Yakitori” , “Ore no kappou”, “Ore no Yakiniku”etc…. This restaunrants  chain is very popular in Japan now because we can eat very delicious food with very cheap price. Owner of this restaurant chain says “Concept of this “Ore no” restaurant chain is cheap price but Michelin class dish.

Maybe this company marketing team try to use this restaurant chain image. They maybe want to say that this instant noodle is Michelin class taste.

But don’t expect too much. it’s just a Instant noodle that we can buy it with a few dollars.

Yes, it’s just instant noodle. just pouring hot water is all thing what it need. but maybe Michelin class instant noodle need very complex instruction.

It says at first, after open top cover, we must pick out three small package. Top cover peel off between A line and B line. and three small package is three different kind packages.

Second, put seasoning on the noodle and pour hot water according to water level line marked inside.

Third, rip off C parts slowly according to arrowed line.

Fourth, hold corner of package firmly, and lean slowly and drain hot water from drain hall. (Be careful burn injury)

Fifth, ripp off top cover completely and add liquid seasoning source softly, after that, add powder seasoning sauce. and Please eat it.

Power of Negi (Green onion)

Negi is one of the most popular seasoning especially for Ramen noodle in Japan. Adding more negi make Ramen noodle the more delicious. But strangely it is disgusting taste if you eat only negi. When you eat it with Ramen noodle, it’s good.

it’s like the plastic surgery. only plastic surgery is disgusting, but it is very good if it is with Madonna. adding more plastic surgery make Madona make more good.

So I found out this instant noodle, I bought it in second because this instant noodle say that it with lots of Negi.

Negi daku means that too much green onion.
Negi is green onion, Daku means that too much.

Tonkotsu means pork back bone.
Pork back bone is very popular cooking parts for Ramen noodle.
But after finishing payment for this instant noodle, I start to be suspicious about this instant noodle.

because green onion is kind of vegetable. Vegetable is juicey meanwhile Instant noodle is basically very dried condition. I cannot imagine such juicey onion can be in instant noodle. But I believed in Japanese instant noodle engineer who produce this noodle. Believing is only what I could do at this time.

In the package, there are three seasoning.

1, powder soup
2, Liquid soup
3. Kayaku (freeze dried seasonings)

Amazingly this instant noodle have two different type soups seasoning. Why there are two ? it’s just instant noodle. only one is enough. But maybe Japanese instant noodle engineer tried to establish their ideal taste by mixing two different seasoning. The fact that these are two seasoning make my motivation explosion.

3rd seasoning is this time main feature. it’s negi.
at a glance, green onion is not so much. it put me in anxiety. I spent money to taste too much negi. But see this quantity of negi, it’s not so much ! What happen to Japanese instant noodle engineer !

But I have opened package already. i cannot refund it. I accepted to eat it with regret.

But miracle happen ! after pouring hot water, and waited for 4 minute. and open cover package, I really surprised to see inside Negi. 3rd seasoning is swollen like Madonna face after plastic surgery. Plenty of negi spread on noodle surface.
